2010 forward...

2010 looks like being another busy and successful year for us. The first Make Mine Music release of the year will be a 7” single by Epic45, hopefully in February, to coincide with the band heading out on tour.  There will also be a new LP/CD/download release by Millimetrik in the summer, entitled “Mystique Drums”.  July Skies will have a new release next year, although details are under wraps for the moment.  Make Mine Music will also unveil a new download store in coming months and there will be a series of download releases by a number of artists throughout the year, including the first full release by Jelly Antler, whose track “Back to School”, on our 50th anniversary compilation, was a highlight for many.

Last but by no means least, we are very proud to be able to announce three new artists on the label, whose first releases will appear in the Spring.  The first, Manual, will probably be known to most from his albums on labels like Morr Music and Darla.  Manual’s new album is a truly stunning reclamation of the sound of his earlier albums, with chiming guitars, programmed beats and stronger melodies than his last couple of albums.  Another artist joining the label is James Brewster, who has previously released music under the name Mole Harness.  Feeling hemmed in by the expectations of that name, James decided to head out under his real name and has recorded a beautiful, varied and highly imaginative album that brings together acoustic-based songcraft, sampling, digital processing and electronic instrumentation.  Lastly, with the Portal name now retired, Make Mine Music founder Scott Sinfield will return in 2010 with new material that takes in ambient, dub, dream pop and jazz influences, under the name Ringinglow.

And that’s just for starters.  If you want to be kept up to date with news as it happens this coming year, sign up for our Mailing List.

May you all enjoy the holiday season, however you choose to celebrate it, and we wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.
