Schengen

 

Schengen are Nick and Ian, and the non-playing Helen. Nick and Ian had both played in guitar-based bands (Nick - Bovine Slug / Ian - Blind Panic, Mule) before meeting through a mutual friend and discovering a shared love of electronica, reverb, analogue synthesizers and red wine.

After initially releasing cassette recordings under the name Insect Nation, they changed their name to Schengen, released a 12” single on Roisin Recordings and had their music used on the cult BBC programme “This Life”.

Further releases followed on Awkward Silence and Monopsone, with their debut album “The Beijing on our Career” being released on Make Mine Music in 2006.
