Demo Policy
Make Mine Music is always looking for great music. But before you send us your maximus opus, please read the following advice.
1) Make Mine Music is not like other record labels. There is no office, no A&R man, no marketing department, no press officer, no secretary, no MONEY. This label is run by the artists on the label and the artists pay for everything THEMSELVES. That is, the artists pay for the recording, manufacture, production and promotion of their own records.
This means that when the artist sells a copy of their record, THEY receive 100% of the profit from that sale. The label takes NOTHING.
To clarify : if you release a record on Make Mine Music, YOU pay for everything and YOU receive 100% of the profit from selling that record.
What do you get out of releasing a record on MMM? Aside from 100% of your sales income? Aside from the esteem of being part of one of the most pioneering labels in the history of contemporary music? Aside from regular statements without even having to ask for them? Aside from royalty payments the day we receive them? Aside from complete artistic freedom? Aside from the support and advice from the other artists on the label, including production and promotion contacts? Aside from plugging into our worldwide distribution network through Cargo Distribution? Aside from enjoying our special relationship with fantastic mail order companies like Norman Records and Boomkat? Aside from the chance of playing regular MMM nites with the other bands on the label?
NOTHING.
2) If you're going to send us your music , PLEASE listen to some of the music we've already put out. We're not saying you have to sound like us but it's pretty obvious we're not yet ready for reggae/metal fusion just yet.
Listen to the music on our website for starters :
http://www.makeminemusic.co.uk/
3) Send us a link to where we can listen to your music to this address :
Please do not send attached mp3s, our mailbox will fill up and they will get deleted.
We do not accept CDs or any other "physical" format as, like we said : we do not have an address!
If you don't hear back from us within 21 days, the chances are we are not interested.
4) Lastly, don't be afraid. MMM exists as an avenue by which artists can release their music outside of a crumbling and often corrupt conventional music industry system. We are here for the artist, not for profit. We want you to sell records, plain and simple. We have no ulterior motive except to provide you with the means to do just that.
We look forward to hearing your music.
